Bangkok 3-day travel guide
Bangkok attracts a lot of backpackers who are looking for excellent street food,
palace and temple complexes and at least an electric bustling atmosphere.
How to get in Bangkok
Suvarnabhumi Airport is the main airport of Bangkok.
The city center can be reached quickly and easily with the Airport Rail Link, train runs between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and Phaya Thai Station. At this station you can transfer for the BTS skytrain or bus. Price from Airport to Phaya Thai Station 45 THB. Getting around Bangkok by BTS, I would recommend you a one-day pass 120bath, unlimited rides for a day or a motorbike.
Visiting the temples
Wat Phra Kaeo is as old as Bangkok itself. The colorful tombs in the temple complex stand out with gold leaf roofs, glazed orange and green tiles, and pillars decorated with beautiful mosaics.
The most famous but also oldest and largest temple in Bangkok. This temple is often called the temple of the reclining Buddha because of the 46-meter-long, 15 meters high Buddha that sits in the core of this temple.
Take a ferry at Tha Thien towards Wat Arun. You cannot miss the temple: in the center is an 82-meter-high tower that is flanked by four smaller ones. The towers are made from porcelain pieces.
Go Shopping! Siam Square one of the best known in Bangkok, Icon Siam for luxery and
The Union Mall one of the best know for cheap clothes.
View Exhibitions at Bangkok Art & Culture Center.
After shopping, you can visit the Art & Culture Center of Bangkok. The inside reminded me a lot of the Guggenheim of New York with its white, spiral walkways. In the building you will find fast-growing art by Thai and international artists. The entrance is free.
Try some streetfood at Chinatown
Escape the concrete jungle by making a daytrip to Kanchanburi
Another highlight in this region is the Erawan National Park. In this park you will find the beautiful Erawan waterfalls, according to many the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. The falls consist of seven different levels. In these waterfalls you can swim and enjoy the view. Price to visit the waterfalls 300 bath
